The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) of Leidos is at the forefront of developing innovative technology solutions for maritime missions, catering to a diverse range of customers, including the Department of Defense (DoD). As we continue to expand, we are excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled Electro-Mechanical Technician.
In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in supporting the assembly, testing, and production of advanced electro-mechanical devices for surface and subsea applications. Whether you are part of a groundbreaking R&D initiative in our lab or working closely with clients in the field, your self-motivation, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills will be vital to our success.
The position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Electrical Assembly:
- Fabricate wire harnesses through splicing, crimping, and soldering across various connectors and cable types.
- Install components on circuit boards with J-Std approved soldering techniques for both surface mount and through-hole devices.
- Conduct inspection and testing of circuit card assemblies.
- Utilize standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, etc.) for troubleshooting electronic assemblies.
- Mechanical Assembly:
- Assemble and test mechanical systems, adhering to documented drawings and robust processes.
- Engage in potting and encapsulation tasks for connectors, electronics, and subassemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing procedures.
- Use hand tools for mechanical assembly into larger units.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues effectively with minimal supervision.
- Maintain documentation standards, including serial number records and non-conformance reports.
- Design and create assembly fixtures for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lab and Equipment Maintenance:
- Create and implement work orders and test/safety procedures.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Manage lab equipment and assembly tools; support repair tasks as necessary.
- Track maintenance of lab machines and communicate needs to facility management.
- Promote and implement 5S practices throughout the workspace.
- Collaborate with facility management on new training processes.
- Utilize Data Driven Decision Making (DDDM) to present facility or program needs.
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to achieve an Interim SECRET security clearance before starting.
- Experience in reading schematics and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on expertise in electrical and mechanical assembly.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
- Proficient in operating basic machine shop tools and woodworking tools.
- Experience with standard electronic test equipment.
- Knowledge of soldering to J-STD-001 and a willingness to obtain certification.
- Self-motivated and organized, capable of adapting to changing tasks.
- Maintain orderly workspaces free from debris.
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to draft technical documents for operational instructions.
- Understanding of 5S practices and protocols.
- Experience with ESD environments.
- Safety-conscious regarding facility protocols and organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or relevant technical certification.
- Experience with unmanned underwater vehicles and related technologies.
- Background in fiber optics manufacturing and troubleshooting.
- Certification in J-STD-001 soldering standard.
- Experience using fabrication tools like milling machines and lathes.
- Familiarity with ISO manufacturing standards.
- Proficiency in CAD tools for design and interpretation.
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S methodologies.

Pay Range: $53,950.00 - $97,525.00
