The group provides services in the life management of infrastructure, facilities, and equipment failure analysis and prevention, problem solving, reliability, improvement, asset management, life prediction, risk analysis, remaining useful life assessments, and cost of operation and maintenance. The Junior Metallurgist/Engineering Technician will be assisting Intertek's metallurgical engineers with field evaluations at power plants and laboratory tasks. Successful performance in this role requires effective communication, strong technical skills to perform the laboratory testing and evaluate results, practical experience to solve simple equipment problems, and a strong commitment to developing better processes and technologies. Primary Responsibilities: Conduct hands on condition assessment and failure analysis testing Perform laboratory testing per the provided procedures, individually or with a team Compile results and write technical reports Maintain open lines of communication with coworkers, clients, and vendors Have a mindset of safety first Qualifications Extensive experience with basic power tools and cross-sectioning Metallurgical sample preparation, optical microscopy, hardness testing, and basic nondestructive examinations Working knowledge of SEM/EDS eing able to work both independently and as a multidisciplined team member Excellent written and oral communicational skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time Proficiency in MS Office Valid driver's license Willingness and ability to travel (up to 75%) A career with Intertek means joining a global network of professionals dedicated to bringing quality and safety to life.
