Job Description

Community Health System is seeking a hardworking, self-motivated paralegal to join its Legal Services Department. The successful candidate will have the ability and desire to work as part of a team consisting of seven attorneys and one other paralegal, and will be responsible for working with Community's Legal Services Department staff on a wide breadth of legal issues related to the operation of a healthcare system. This is an in-person position with only limited remote work options.Provides administrative and paralegal support functions requiring significant independent accountability, respect for sensitive/confidential information and ability to be flexible with respect to the work day and work week. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: legal research, drafting letters, research memos, and contracts.Essential Job Functions Include:+ Compile reports and compose correspondence for attorney review. + Conduct legal research and write memos for legal staff.+ Demonstrate excellent writing, editing and formatting skills.+ Review subpoenas for validity.+ Update and track real estate records maintained by the Legal Services Department.+ Research contract information at the direction of legal staff and draft contract notices.+ Work with attorneys to effectuate the Legal Services Department's litigation hold program.+ Assist attorneys in organizing, tracking and working with outside counsel to submit important information in litigated matters.Skills and Experience Required:+ High School Diploma+ 5 years of Legal Assistant experience with paralegal skills.+ Critical thinking skills, good judgment and professionalism.+ Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.+ Proficient with Westlaw or Lexis and Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, and Zoom.+ Understanding of proper formats for a variety of correspondence, reports and other documents.+ High degree of initiative, time management and organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple activities, tasks and projects in order to meet deadlines.+ Knowledge of State Corporation filing requirements.Skills and Experience Preferred:+ Associate's Degree+ Paralegal Certification+ Prior experience with electronic discovery and document production in litigation.Please note: Per the CDPH order, all healthcare workers are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved exemption and test regularly.Requisition ID: 29 Shift Type (FT, PT, PRN, etc.): Full-Time Shift: 8 Hour Shift Schedule: Days Facility (Tazworks integration): Community Medical Centers - Corporate Offices (CMC) Updated Date: 9/3/2021 External Company Name: Community Medical Centers of Fresno, CA External Company URL:
