Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute is looking for a dedicated Physician Assistant to join our growing Orthopaedic Practice. As a Physician Assistant you will be responsible for appropriately diagnosing orthopedic conditions and formulating conservative and interventional treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a physician. Duties include but are not limited to orthopaedic consults, ordering and interpreting labs, films, studies, as well as performing office procedures, writing orders, charting and completing paperwork.Our Practice consists of five Orthopaedic Surgeons and two Physician Assistants and serves a diverse patient population in two locations, Sherman Oaks and Palmdale.*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record; write progress notes.* Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care* Carry out therapeutic procedures such as cast application and removal, dressing changes; monitor progress of patients.* Act as first assist in surgery.* Take call.*SKILLS:** Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.* Bilingual Spanish/English preferred, but not a must.* Excellent computer skills with experience in electronic medical records (EMR).* Excellent organization skills.* Strong communication skills and ability to quickly build rapport with patients.* Strong commitment to working with patients and staff from a wide range of ethnic, economic, cultural and social backgrounds.*LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:** Current CA license as a PA required.* Current DEA certification required.* Current BLS required; ACLS preferred.*EDUCATION:** Completion of accredited physician assistant training program.*Job Type:* Full-time*Benefits:** 401(k)* Health insurance* Dental insurance* Vision insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off (Includes Vacation, Sick & Personal)* 80 hours,1st year* 120 hours, 2nd and 3rd year* 160 hours, 4th year+* Hospital applications and fees covered by company* Pay up to $1000 yr. for CME* DEA renewal fees covered by company* License renewal fees covered by company
