Position Overview: As a Senior Claims Adjuster, your primary responsibility will be to thoroughly investigate claims for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages, while working to facilitate out-of-court settlements with claimants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage complex loss claims and assist with larger claims, particularly those related to business interruption and stock.
  • Review claim forms and related records to assess insurance coverage.
  • Engage with claimants and witnesses through interviews and correspondence.
  • Consult police and hospital records and inspect damage to evaluate company liability.
  • Estimate repair or compensation costs accurately.
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings and negotiate settlements effectively.
  • Recommend legal action when necessary and attend litigation hearings.
  • Update case reserves to reflect probable costs associated with claims.
  • Assist in compiling loss experience reports to inform profitability assessments and future rate calculations.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
  • Support the organization's quality programs.
  • Travel as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred. A certification through IIA-AIC is required, and candidates should actively pursue additional professional designations. An appropriate state adjuster license is necessary.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of related experience is required, or a combination of relevant education and experience.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC usage.
  • Strong commitment to timely reporting and customer service.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed performance goals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of kneeling, squatting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods, up to 4 hours daily.
  • Continuous use of manual dexterity is essential.

As part of compliance with compensation transparency laws, Sedgwick offers a starting salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 for this position.
