About the Team/Role:
The Financial Engineering team plays a crucial role in Coinbase's mission to establish an open financial system worldwide. We support all trading flows and products at Coinbase, facilitating hundreds of billions in transactions annually. Our aim is to empower every finance function at Coinbase to operate with precision, agility, and foresight. This high-visibility position will provide direct exposure to Coinbase's Chief Accounting Officer. We're seeking an entrepreneurial, self-motivated product leader who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, possesses deep experience with large-scale financial products and systems, and can effectively align cross-functional teams to deliver essential infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the product strategy and roadmap focusing on finance transformation, process automation, AI-driven insights, and system enhancements while aligning closely with Finance leadership and broader company objectives.
- Manage and mentor product managers, setting high standards for product craftsmanship, stakeholder management, and technical depth within the team.
- Lead cross-functional execution of intricate, high-impact initiatives including reconciliation tooling, SOX-compliant change management for financial reporting, new product finance onboarding, and user-friendly tools for Accounting and Treasury.
- Act as the subject matter expert on Coinbase's finance operations, deeply understanding accounting, crypto and fiat reconciliation, and treasury workflows to identify high-impact opportunities for automation and tooling.
- Collaborate directly with senior leaders in finance, product, and engineering to prioritize and manage a portfolio of crucial initiatives, providing clear communication on progress, risks, and timelines.
- Outline the future-state finance technology landscape and ensure the roadmap reflects technical realities.
- Represent finance users during all tech implementations, designing and executing change management and training programs to drive true adoption across finance teams.
- Conduct competitive and data analyses to inform decision-making and become a domain expert in financial and crypto products.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management experience, including at least 2 years managing other product managers.
- Proven ability to leverage generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) effectively within day-to-day workflows, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and adoption of evolving tools for enhanced efficiency, cost, and quality.
- A degree in Computer Science or software engineering experience.
- In-depth knowledge of financial products, including financial record keeping, accounting processes, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in developing scalable solutions for accounting, treasury management, and financial operations.
- A track record of successfully leading critical business systems in a dynamic environment.
- Strong influencing capabilities among senior stakeholders including CFO/CAO, Accounting, Product & Engineering to drive a unified vision.
- Passion and curiosity for cryptocurrency and Web3 technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or professional certifications such as CPA and CFA.
- Expertise in AI/ML, RPA, or low-code automation applied to financial workflows.
- Familiarity with SOX controls and audit readiness at scale.
- Knowledge of accounting terminology and financial applications (ERP systems, accounting platforms, FP&A, budgeting tools, etc.).

Salary Transparency: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this role ranges between $243,865 and $286,900 USD. Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
